Confessions of a Shopaholic Review

Confessions of a Shopahaolic
Confessions of a Shopaholic vies for your attention as a romantic comedy, and a very real outlook on our society nowadays.  While trying very hard to go in both directions, I feel it kind of falls short on both.

Okay, so I got the worst out of the way.  So taking away that this will be a truly brilliant film, in all honesty I actually really did enjoy myself.  It’s a fun little tale through this one girl’s life.

Like the title says, the film focuses on a young, bright journalist, Rebecca, who has an addiction…no, not to any illegal substances, but to shopping.  When she finds herself up to her eyeballs in debt, she tries to get a new job.  This leads to her working at a Savings magazine under the very sweet and attractive editor, Luke.  Of course the two begin to fall in love, and so on and so on… (why can’t this happen in real life again???  lol)  ;)

Isla Fisher is really brilliant as Rebecca.  She’s adorable to watch, and I think she brought a certain life to this character that this film badly needed.

Hugh Dancy, whom may I just state is very easy on the eyes ;), is more then dashing as the young editor.  He plays that ‘knight in shining armor’ to perfection.

John Goodman and Joan Cusack (whom I always love) give their talents to some supporting roles.  Both were cute, but nothing amazing.

Overall, Confessions of a Shopaholic is a cute little distraction to your day.  It has some memorable scenes, and is a worthy addition to those Sunday Afternoon Romantic Comedies we all can find guilty pleasure in watching.  ;)  It’s nothing great, but not all too bad either.  I give it a 6/10.  The film is rated PG and runs 104 minutes.

Happy viewing everyone!  =)
